This course will introduce students to the basics of theatrical engineering in the areas of signal paths, microphone operation, audio manipulation software, and the components necessary to reproduce audio in a theatrical environment. We will tour a number of spaces on campus and evaluate their audio equipment as well as receive hands-on demonstrations. This experience will also provide design opportunities ranging from basic sound effects creation to a full show composition.
